“Beware the Undertow is one of my earlier mermaid misadventure paintings. The earliest being a mermaid in tempera from fourth grade. The Delaware Art Museum’s Howard Pyle collection had something to do with it. A diver is being pulled to his watery fate while his partner swims up to the waiting hull above." - Ken Mabrey -
